F.A.Q.

Silver Screen Club

Q:When can I expect my card?
A: Please allow 2 weeks to receive your actual card. Sign up before January 1st every year to get your card in time for the Portland International Film Festival. The most efficient way to sign up is in person (either at the Festival Ticket Outlet during PIFF, or at our offices on 934 SW Salmon, M-F, between 9-5) since you can be
given a receipt to use as your pass until you receive your card.

Q:How are expiration dates decided and what happens if I sign up in February during PIFF?
A: Your expiration is one year from the last day of the month during which you become a member. If you sign up June 7th, 2008 your expiration is June 30, 2009. Every membership is good for one PIFF per year. PLEASE BE AWARE: If you sign up before the last day of the Portland International Film Festival (the third Saturday of February), your expiration will be January 31 of the following year. It's best to sign up between March-December in order to receive 12 full months of film in your first year and enjoy a full PIFF.

Q:If I renew early to get my card in time for the Portland International Film Festival, do I still get 12 months of membership?
A: Yes, when you renew your expiration will always be a year from your initial expiration date.

Q: Do memberships include free admission to the Portland International Film Festival?
A: Free admission to PIFF is provided to our members at the Director level or above. Your valid card is all you need!

Q: Can I bring a friend for free?
A: Each member level includes guest passes which are good for regular NW Film Center screenings, excluding the Portland International Film Festival. At each level, Director thru Benefactor members may purchase two tickets per show at the reduced Friend Level price ($3 off Regular Admission and PIFF Tickets). Benefactors may bring 3 friends free of charge without guest passes.

Q: If I buy one membership can I get a discount on a second membership?
A: Each membership is sold at full price.

Q: How long does a membership last?
A: Membership passes are good for one full year, beginning the end of the month of purchase.

Q: Where else can I purchase a membership?
A: Online at www.nwfilm.org under the Silver Screen Club. By stopping into our office between 9-5 daily (934 SW Salmon), or by phone. Allow two weeks for receiving your actual card, but a receipt can be issued for use until you receive your materials. Beginning January 30, you may purchase new cards at the Festival Ticket Outlet on 1119 SW PARK AVENUE from 12-6 PM and receive a receipt which can be used the same way as a card!

Q: Can you send me more information in the mail?
A: All of our members receive a copy of our schedule (usually printed every 2-3 months). Need weekly reminders of what we are showing? We use an email newsletter which you can sign up for on the top right-hand side of our home page!

Q: At what level do I get reserved seating?
A: Producers receive a reserved seat in the Whitsell Auditorium and VIP seating in other venues during the Portland International Film Festival. To reserve your seat, call Cheryl (503)-221-1156.

Q: How do I reserve my seat in the Whitsell? When can I expect to see that my seat is
reserved in the Whitsell?

A: Please take a look at the seating chart on our website and choose your top three seating preferences. To reserve your seat, call Cheryl (503)-221-1156 or email info@nwfilm.org. You will then receive an email confirmation (within 3 business days) of your reserved seat! Please allow two weeks to see your name on a seat!
