The Northwest Film Center is dedicated to providing a venue to screen meritorious independent film and video, especially those made by filmmakers of the Northwest. Northwest residents (Alaska, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington State) may enter their work in the Northwest Filmmakers' Festival at any time during the year; entries will also be considered for our ongoing Northwest Tracking series. Follow the links below for information and entry forms for our various exhibition programs. Northwest filmmakers are encouraged to contact Regional Services Manager Thomas Phillipson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Filmmakers outside the region may contact Exhibition Program Assistant Morgen Ruff at email@example.com.
Festivals for NW Filmmakers
Festivals Open to Filmmakers of all Regions
The Film Center hosts Open Screenings roughly five times per year at the Whitsell Auditorium inside the Portland Art Museum. Filmmakers must first contact Regional Services Manager Thomas Phillipson at firstname.lastname@example.org to participate and should deliver their piece to the Film Center offices at 934 SW Salmon at least five days before the screening. Works are screened first come, first served as time allows with preference given to work under ten minutes.
In many ways an outgrowth of the Northwest Filmmakers' Festival, our Northwest Tracking series offers a year-round home for showcasing outstanding film and video work made by our Northwest artists. The series offers premiers of features, collected shorts, and spotlights on some of our most durable and inspirational regional filmmakers. Programming is ongoing for this series so if you are a Northwest filmmaker and would like your work considered for Northwest Tracking, please contact Regional Services Manager Thomas Phillipson at email@example.com. All Northwest Filmmakers' Festival entries and Open Screening films will be automatically considered for Northwest Tracking.
