THE 10-MINUTE RULE
Seats for advance ticket and pass holders are held until 10 minutes before showtime,
when any unfilled seats are released to the public. Thus, advance tickets or passes
ensure that you will not have to wait in the ticket purchase line but do not guarantee
a seat in the case of arrival after the 10-minute window has begun. Your early arrival
also helps get screenings started promptly. We appreciate your understanding. Advance
ticket holders who arrive within the 10-minute window but are not seated may exchange
their tickets for another screening at the Ticket Outlet or obtain a cash refund at
the theater. There are no refunds or exchanges for late arrivals or for missed screenings.
DIRECTOR: STEFAN RUZOWITZKY
AUSTRIA
Writer/director Ruzowitsky tells a little-known, true-life World War II story. Solomon Sorowitsch, a Russian Jew and uncrowned king of counterfeiting in the swinging Berlin of the 1930s, is plucked from almost certain death in a Nazi concentration camp and put in charge of a massive effort to flood England and America with counterfeit currency. Sorowitsch plays a tense cat-and-mouse game with the clever and amoral SS officer, struggling to keep himself and his disparate crew alive in a world of terrifyingly arbitrary violence and death. The Counterfeiters employs the suspenseful rhythms of gangster films in revisiting a tale of Nazi-era crimes, human resource-fulness and resilience, and tough moral questions under the most extreme pressures. This year's Austrian submission for the Best Foreign Film Oscar. Print courtesy of Sony Pictures Classics. ( 99 min )
Filmography: Tempo (86), The Inheritors (98), Anatomy (00), All the Queen's Men (01).
Director Stefan Ruzowitzky will be in attendance for the February 13th show. Sponsored by Southpark. For more information or to vote online visit Oregon Live. ^ Top

IMPORT/EXPORT
DIRECTOR: ULRICH SEIDL
AUSTRIA
Import/Export offers a grim (but often darkly funny) snapshot of life in a changing Europe that takes little heed of national boundaries, or of the demoralizing lengths to which people must go to find work. Olga, a Ukrainian nurse, moonlights in Internet porn before traveling to Austria, where the best job she can find is as a cleaning woman in a geriatric ward; Paul, a sometime-security guard in Vienna who is ducking mounting debts, signs on for itinerant work that takes him to the Ukraine. For Olga and Paul, moving in opposite directions to find opportunity, happiness is hard to find. Their individual stories, profoundly political and moral, reveal the level of social failure. Print courtesy of the Coproduction Office. ( 135 min )
Filmography: Dog Days (01).
