DIRECTOR: SRDAN GOLUBOVIC
SERBIA
A modern day film noir, described by its director as "a Balkan version of 'Crime and Punishment,' " The Trap takes us into the heart of terrible moral dilemmas: How far would you go to save your child? Would you be prepared to take a life in order to save one? Although Mladen and his wife, Marija, are a relatively successful modern Belgrade couple, they don't have the money necessary for an urgent operation to save their son's life. Completely desperate, they advertise for help in a newspaper, and get only one response: an offer of all the money, but only if Mladen will kill a man in return. This year's Serbian submission for the Best Foreign Film Oscar. Print courtesy of Fortissimo Films. ( 106 min )
