ensure that you will not have to wait in the ticket purchase line but do not guarantee
a seat in the case of arrival after the 10-minute window has begun. Your early arrival
also helps get screenings started promptly. We appreciate your understanding. Advance

their tickets for another screening at the Ticket Outlet or obtain a cash refund at

DIRECTOR: HEDDY HONIGMANN
NETHERLANDS
Honigmann , the subject of a Northwest Film Center retrospective in 2004, interviews visitors to the famous Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris, the last resting place for many famous artists. A young Asian pianist at Chopin's graveside talks of her dead father's favorite composition; an old woman cleaning Proust's grave comments, "Someone left a pen, so he can keep writing in the here-after"; two Simone Signoret fans, both blind, screen Clouzot's Les Diabolique, these are just a few of the stories. While it might sound morbid, Honigmann's sensitive, intelligent film isn't about death; it's about the power of art, beauty and memory in our lives. "An unforgettable experience - one of Honigmann's most accomplished and expressive works."—Variety. Print courtesy of First Run–Icarus Features. ( 95 min )
Selected Filmography: Mind Shadows (87), Metal and Melancholy (93), O Amor Natural (96), The Underground Orchestra (97), Crazy (99), Give Me Your Hand (03).

DUSKA
DIRECTOR: JOS STELLING
NETHERLANDS
Duska tells the story of Bob, a man whose best years are behind him. Bob is addicted to film, has visited several festivals as a film critic and is now working on his own screenplay. When Bob's desire for the stunningly beautiful cashier from the local movie theatre becomes reality and she ends up at his house, a man named Duska suddenly appears at his door. The timing couldn't be worse, and the enigmatic Russian is not likely to ever leave. "Based on a true story, my film refers to such universal themes as love, life, loneliness and friendship. Where life runs short, fantasy takes over."—Jos Stelling's dark comedy is this year's Dutch submission for the Best Foreign Film Oscar. Print courtesy of Eyeworks/Egmond Films. ( 110 min )
Filmography: The Illusionist (83), The Flying Dutchman (83), No Trains No Planes (99).
