Peggy Ahwesh, a special guest at this year’s Portland Documentary & eXperimental Film Festival, and Associate Professor of Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College, has developed a heterogeneous body of work over the last 20 years in the field of experimental film, digital media, and audio. Aptly described as a bricoleur, she works in a combination of narrative and documentary styles, improvisational performance, found footage, and noise and nonsense, utilizing a variety of obsolete, low-end, and arcane technologies. Her work has been screened internationally at museums and film festivals, including the Whitney Biennial, CinemaTexas, NY Film Festival’s Views from the Avant Garde, and the Museum of Modern Art.
