    Computer Animation with Flash #230

    Core Classes

    Adobe Flash Player

Learn to bring two-dimensional graphic artwork to life in this introductory class which teaches the principles of animation using Adobe Flash software. With an emphasis on effective storytelling, the class will learn how to make animated short films compelling through narrative concept development, character design and development, quality of motion, and experimental animation techniques. In-class exercises will introduce squash and stretch, metamorphosis, keyframes, mise en scene (staging), point of view, illusion of depth, dialogue, timing and pacing, and sound.  Storyboarding, voiceover recording, syncing sound and action, media management, and other technical issues will be dealt with in several in-depth animation exercises. Working from third-party images and/or their own original artwork, students will undertake a final project which brings all these elements together according to their own personal vision. Access to the Film Center editing lab outside of class is provided. Visual arts training is optional.
