The Student Academy Awards, created
and supported by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences
and the Academy Foundation, seeks to encourage and recognize
outstanding student filmmaking throughout the United States.
The Northwest Film Center coordinates the regional jurying
for students enrolled in colleges and universities in Alaska,
California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana,Nevada, Oregon, Washington
and Wyoming.
ENTRY DEADLINE: April 1, 2004.
Preliminary judging will begin shortly after the entry deadline
by a jury assembled by the Northwest Film Center that will
include a mix of filmmakers, film professors and critics.
Submissions will be narrowed to a short list of Regional Finalists
that will be judged at a public screening at the Northwest
Film Center’s Guild Theater. Up to three Regional Finalists
in each category (narrative, experimental, animation, documentary)
will proceed to the National Finals which will be judged by
Academy members throughout the month of May. National winners
will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in Los Angeles
June 13, 2004.
