The 31st Annual Young People's Film & Video Festival The Young Peoples Film & Video Festival is an annual opportunity for young Northwest film and video makers to have their work viewed by professional media artists and presented to the public. We hope the Festival encourages young people to use film and video to creatively express personal concerns, explore important social issues and share engaging stories about the world today. Winning entries are chosen by jury process, and will be shown at an awards ceremony at 2pm Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Portland Art Museum Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 SW Park, Portland, Oregon.

RULES AND ELIGIBILITY Any young film or video maker (grades K-12) living in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, Montana or Utah may enter a film, video, animation or multimedia work in any theme or style made after September 1, 2006. Group projects as well as individual work are acceptable. All entries must be student produced. Adult guidance and instruction is permissible, but the planning production and selection of subject matter must reflect student effort. Entry deadline is June 30, 2008. Mail all entries to: YPFVF, Northwest Film Center, 1219 SW Park Avenue, Portland, OR, 97205. There is no entry fee.

JURY PROCESS A jury panel of media professionals and educators will select winning entries. Criteria for selection include: age/grade, originality, artistic merit, technical achievement and conviction in investigation of subject matter. The use of original music is highly encouraged.

Congratulations to the young filmmakers who were selected to be a part of the 31st Annual Young People’s Film & Video Festival. Please join us Sunday, July 15th at 2PM, for this year's Winner's Program of film + video work submitted by youth grades K-12 living in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah + Washington. Many of the young mediamakers will be present in this free public program of shorts, animation, dramas, and documentaries chosen out of an entry field of 150+ entries. This program also includes presentation of the Service to Young Filmmakers Award to the Mt Hood Cable Regulatory Commission.
