The Portland International Film Festival continues its tradition of leading audiences to discover great cinema. As the premiere film and cultural event of Oregon the Festival brings together film lovers and filmmakers from around the world for two weeks in February with the belief that movies can involve an audience by challenging, entertaining, and inspiring them. In order to produce such an event, the Festival annually hires a group of dedicated individuals to work both in the offices and theatres associated with PIFF.

Basic requirements:
...- detail-oriented hard-workers with strong organizational skills;
...- the ability to learn quickly;
...- should be able to work in a very fast-paced environment;
...- knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.

responsibilites
  • The person filling this position will have a neat appearance, good judgment, and ability to communicate with a wide variety of people.
  • Handle incoming telephone lines; answer general questions about programs, hours, fees, and events; direct calls to other staff members as appropriate; greet and assist office visitors
  • Coordinate special film screenings for high school students
  • Other duties as assigned
qualifications
  • Ability to perform all the essential job functions of this positions
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone, meet deadlines, work under pressure wit minimal supervision and handle unforeseen situations as they arise
  • Prior office experience helpful

THEATRE MANAGER

Public Speaking, scheduling, staff and volunteer supervision and record keeping related to ticket sales and cash receipts

responsibilites

This person will supervise theatre activities at off-site screening venues during the Festival and in that capacity will:

  • Introduce films
  • Oversee cashiers, volunteers, staff
  • Communicate with Operations Manager and office daily to coordinate staff issues.
  • Represent Festival to public
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of film is desirable

CASHIER

15-25  Hours per week. Must be available to work evenings and weekends

responsibilites
  • Sell tickets, concessions, handle cash, count receipts
  • Assist other theater staff in the opening and closing of the theater, as well as general upkeep of the facility
  • Represent the Festival to the public, answer customer questions about screenings and Film Center programs
  • Other duties as assigned
