SHOW AND TELL UN-CONFERENCE: A BARCAMP FOR FILMMAKERS
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 10 AM - 4 PM
How better to sort through the many dilemmas confronting filmmakers than to conjoin with your creative comrades. Inspired by the software community phenomenon, the“BarCamp,” this user-generated un-conference will bring collective minds together to share the wealth, show and tell, inspire and be inspired. This is a forum where you become a co-organizer by suggesting topics, offering a presentation based on your interests, and contributing to the free flow of ideas. In the weeks and days leading up to the event itself, individuals visit the interactive website, review the growing participants list, and begin posting ideas. On Saturday, November 8, at the School of Film, names and topics will be listed on a grid on the wall, a poll taken, and a final schedule of 45 minute sessions will unfold. Everyone from Super 8 aficionados to post house wizards can propose an idea for a session, select a topic to lead, or ask a question in the group discussion. Even if you’re not an expert, other folks in the room will add their own insight and bingo!—there’s a real exchange of ideas. Beverages and snacks will be provided to sustain an environment where learners and the learned are one in the same. The talent is all around us. Let it out. Thanks to Comcast for its support.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 4:00PM WHITSELL AUDITORIUM

HOSTED BY WARREN ETHEREDGE Years and months of hard work won’t guarantee that your movie is going to be the award winner you set out to make. Sometimes the filmmaker is too close to the work to see what is working and what is not. Seattle film guru Warren Etheredge’s “Straight Talk Express” returns to the Festival to take a look at films that were not selected for this year’s festival. With the directors in the audience, he’ll offer his un-minced insight delivered with his trademark wit and unflagging respect for the filmmaker. It’s an entertaining and informative opportunity for filmmakers to get inside the mind of the critical audience before it hits the public screen. Open to filmmakers of all experience levels, as well as to film lovers. Thanks to Comcast for its support.
